At the University of Portland, Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, Loretta Krautscheid, knew that lectures were not the best way for students to learn hands-on material in the nursing curriculum like disease processes. Long lectures were “dry, lifeless” and not as effective as more kinesthetic learning. So they flipped the classroom. But how could they make sure that students were really watching the video?
